Chandler Public Library is partnering with the Arizona State Library on the AZ Read 250 Challenge, encouraging residents of all ages to read 25 books of their choice. The challenge is available at all four Chandler Public Library locations.

Drop in for our June meeting of the Mystery Round Table book group for an American-history themed read. “The Girl from Greenwich Street” by Lauren Willig is based on the true story of America’s first murder trial, which forced bitter rivals Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr to work together to save a man from the gallows.

Victoria Thompson's Counterfeit Lady series is set in early 20th-century America at the time of World War I and the women's suffrage movement. For this month's meeting, attendees will pick one of the books in the series to read, then share which one they read with the group.

Celebrate America's 250th anniversary by planting a native plant in your yard! During 250 Roots of Freedom, the Chandler Nature Center is giving Chandler residents a FREE native plant propagated at our Native Plant Oasis at Veterans Oasis Park. Residents may choose from Arizona Milkweed, Pineneedle Milkweed, Rush Milkweed, Passionflower Vine, and Pink Fairy Duster. These native plants provide valuable habitat for monarch butterflies, pollinators, and other wildlife while enhancing water-wise landscapes. A valid driver's license with a Chandler address is required to receive a plant, limit one plant per household. Plants are available at the Chandler Nature Center during regular hours while supplies last.
